Zaunkönig Festival – Posters, Social Media, and Documentation

Designed six unique posters featuring wordplay to promote the public camera and Instagram account of Heymannbaude, the venue for the festival, handled video and photo documentation.

Zaunkönig is a theater and art festival held for the second year near Dresden.

Posters

Each poster was strategically placed in specific locations, with jokes tailored to the spot. For example, at the veranda where the festival’s pink bird mascot, Zaunkönig, was displayed, the poster read something like, “Not only do we see birds, but the birds can see us” (the joke works better in German!).

Since the festival celebrates hobby theater, I used hand-drawn, rough sketches combined with 3D elements to capture that homemade feel. Another poster, placed near an artwork featuring a zebra, asked, “If a zebra were a QR code, which animal would represent a different one?” This encouraged people to post their answers while tagging the venue and festival.

Photos and Videos

In addition to creating the posters, I also enjoyed producing video and photo content. My focus was on capturing the festival’s atmosphere rather than just documenting performances.

The artists mentioned they already had plenty of performance videos, but fewer that captured the audience and the overall vibe.

As part of the opening video for the festival, we also made a fun TikTok video with Hans Krüger.
