Story
Mikhail Korobko, a Russian immigrant in Germany, didn’t have enough money for mold cheese and found out how to speed up evolution by making mold cheese from ordinary Gouda. To beat cancer, scientists are using this acceleration of evolution to experiment with the exchange of genes between different creatures. One of the experimental animals eventually turns out to be human.
Methods
With the help of three languages, Korobko gradually begins to understand German and to perceive the world in several linguistic paradigms.
Test creatures sit in cages and perceive the world and the company of other similar creatures as they can. This is also how they perceive the scientists.
The book uses three-color drawings by the scientist’s daughter.
The names of the laboratory animals were chosen from a circle of three possibilities: Alejandro, Paul, Elizabeth.
The scientist’s daughter sees all the animals as an evolution of an animal that reminds her of the cat that stayed at home.
